History of Grama Panchayat

Formation: Erimayur Panchayat was formed in December 1961 by merging the Erimayur, Kunissery, and Vadakkathara panchayat boards of the Palakkad Taluk, which was part of the erstwhile Malabar District. Election: The first general election here was held in 1963. Origin of the Name: It is said that the name 'Erimayur' evolved from the names 'Orumayur' and 'Amayur'.
